Dr. Alexis LaRose
A Passion for Dentistry
I love making people smile. When a patient comes in — someone who has been avoiding smiling or showing their teeth because they are uncomfortable with how they look — I can help them. When that person leaves with a giant, healthy, and beautiful smile on their face, there is simply no better feeling.
I love helping people feel comfortable coming to see me. Many patients are anxious in the dental chair, and avoid seeing a dentist for years because of that fear. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve cared for who were terrified when they came for their first visit. My goal is to work with them so they become increasingly comfortable and relaxed at each visit, learning to stop dreading dental care, and hopefully to eventually look forward to their visits.
My patients are special to me. They’re far more than patients; in fact, they’re my friends. I love watching families grow and change. I love hearing of new babies, marriages, graduations, new jobs, new homes, and retirements. I love getting to know each person, learning what they enjoy doing and hearing about their lives.
My Education and Commitment to Continuing Education
I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, and graduated in the top 10% of my class. I was awarded a certificate of merit for achievement, proficiency, and promise in the field of oral medicine. I became a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society and the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society.
Each year I pursue continuing education offerings locally, regionally, and nationally. By staying at the leading edge of knowledge, I am able to ensure my patients always receive the highest level of care. There are constant changes in dental technology, materials, and techniques: I need to be current on everything. Areas of recent concentration include implant dentistry, 3D imaging for implant placement and restoration, and CEREC® single-visit crowns.

Away from Work
My husband Nick is our practice manager. He has a master’s degree in business administration and a background in healthcare. Nick and I welcomed our son Grayson in May 2014. He’s a happy, smiley baby boy. Our family also includes Penny, our golden retriever, who loves having a baby around.
When I’m not caring for my patients, being with Nick and Grayson is my priority. I especially love it when we can be enjoying the outdoors together. Personally, I enjoy water skiing, wakeboarding, snow skiing, hiking, and camping. I love living in Coeur d’Alene, where we have access to so many wonderful recreational activities, year round!
Dr. Marie Smith
I have a passion for helping people through dentistry with kind, gentle treatment, and keen attention to every patient’s needs and fears. I’m thrilled to be in a field that allows me to use that passion and have a direct impact on people’s lives and health. It is important to me to truly get to know my patients and involve them in their treatment plan. Combining that and my experience with the latest technology and innovations in the field will ensure excellent results. I look forward to making your smile the best it can be.
Education and Continuing Education
I earned my undergraduate degree in biology from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. I then received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California. Each year I pursue continuing education opportunities both locally and nationally to stay on top of the ever improving dental technology, techniques and materials.

I moved to Coeur d’Alene recently with my energetic black and white cat, Micah. I grew up in the northwest corner of Washington where my family currently lives. I love soccer and play on community recreational teams, and in my spare time I like to bake pies and other tasty treats. While I am new to the area I already love this community and all the outdoor recreational activities it has to offer. I am looking forward to hiking, snow skiing, camping, water skiing, and wake boarding here.
Meet Our Team
At Kootenai Family Dental we are always looking for assuring, positive qualities, such as the right attitude and level of care, before we add anyone to our team. We believe you cannot train people on these characteristics and will only employ the best people to work with our patients. Our team members are in this field to contribute to the happiness and health of our patients in North Idaho. Kootenai Family Dental continues to offer fitting dental care that mirrors every individual’s needs in a way that is informative and comforting. We look forward to caring for your and your family’s dental needs.
Nick LaRose – Business Administrator
As our office manager, I am responsible for accounting/bookkeeping, human resources, marketing, and strategic planning to make our office as successful as it can be. It’s an amazing feeling, being able to work with people you genuinely care about, from our patients to our awesome team and my wife, Dr. LaRose. Watching them interact with patients and build an organization that is truly unique with how it engages the community is the most rewarding experience I could ever have.
I balance work with taking care of our son, Grayson. We love the outdoors and try to take advantage of this beautiful place we live in as often as possible year round!
Stephanie Spindler – Clinical Director
Stephanie has been a member of our team since 2014. While she is our clinical manager, she formerly worked as dental hygienist, which means that she knows the ins and outs of dental care and can help answer your questions. She strives to make it so that her co-workers love coming to work every day, to a place where they can share their passion and care with our patients. To Stephanie, her co-workers and the patients of Kootenai Family Dental are part of her family.
Stephanie and her husband, Terry, have been married for 10 years, and they have a pet dog named Jackson. They just bought a house, and they spend most of their free time enjoying the chance to remodel their home.
Cierra Gallian – Treatment Coordinator
Cierra moved around quite a bit before deciding to make Coeur d’Alene her home, and she joined our practice in 2015. She has been interested in dentistry from a young age, and enrolled in a dental assistant program in high school. She is also continuing her education at NIC. Cierra is a big believer in keeping current on her education and expanding her knowledge base, especially when it comes to the healthcare field. Joining Kootenai Family Dental has been a real blessing in her life, and it is her second home. She really appreciates the office culture and the teamwork at our practice, and wants to make sure that every patient feels warm and welcomed from the first moment they walk through the door.
When she is not taking care of our patients and can get free from her homework, Cierra can be found with her fur baby Rufus, taking in everything Coeur d’Alene has to offer! She enjoys hiking, shooting, and floating the nearby rivers. You might be able to spot her in the stands, cheering on our Spokane Chiefs at every home game. Go Chiefs Go!
